Με την απονομή των βραβείων «Οδυσσέας» το βράδυ του Σαββάτου 20 Μάη 2017, έκλεισε η αυλαία του 10ου ετήσιου Φεστιβάλ Ελληνικού Κινηματογράφου Λονδίνου που πραγματοποιήθηκε την περασμένη εβδομάδα στο Θέατρο Τέχνης του Camden Town στη βρετανική πρωτεύουσα.
Το διαγωνιστικό τμήμα του Φεστιβάλ περιλάμβανε δεκάδες ταινίες μεγάλου μήκους μυθοπλασίας, μικρού μήκους μυθοπλασίας, ντοκιμαντέρ, video art και πειραματικές ταινίες, ενώ υπήρχε και ειδικό διαγωνιστικό τμήμα σεναρίων. Το έργο της κριτικής επιτροπής ήταν εξαιρετικά δύσκολο φέτος λόγω του υψηλού επιπέδου ποιότητας των συμμετοχών.
Οι συμμετοχές στο προοδευτικό, εναλλακτικό και ανεξάρτητο Φεστιβάλ προέρχονταν από Έλληνες δημιουργούς και παραγωγούς από όλο τον κόσμο, όπως επίσης και από ξένους συντελεστές που είχαν ταινίες ή σενάρια που σχετίζονταν με την Ελλάδα.
Το «παρών» στην τελετή βράβευσης έδωσε πλήθος φίλων του κινηματογράφου, διαγωνιζόμενοι, ο Πρέσβης της Ελλάδας στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο Δημήτρης Καραμήτσος-Τζιράς, ο Διευθυντής του Γραφείου Τύπου της Πρεσβείας στο Λονδίνο Αλέξης Γεωργιάδης, υποστηρικτές και φίλοι του Φεστιβάλ.
Ο ιδρυτής και καλλιτεχνικός διευθυντής σκηνοθέτης Χρήστος Προσύλης εξέφρασε τις ευχαριστίες του στους Έλληνες και ξένους Δημιουργούς για τη συμμετοχή τους, καθώς και στους φίλους και υποστηρικτές του Φεστιβάλ Ελληνικού Κινηματογράφου Λονδίνου. Σημείωσε ότι διανύοντας πλέον το δέκατο έτος του, ο θεσμός αυτός ενεργεί ως διεθνές σημείο συνάντησης για το σύγχρονο ελληνικό κινηματογράφο από όλο τον κόσμο.
Ο κ. Προσύλης επισήμανε εξάλλου τη σημασία του ευρύτατου δικτύου επαγγελματιών του χώρου ανά τον κόσμο που έχει δημιουργηθεί με σημείο αναφοράς το Φεστιβάλ, καλωσόρισε τα θετικά σχόλια των συμμετεχόντων δημιουργών και χαιρέτισε την υψηλή ποιότητα του ελληνικού φιλμ όπως προβλήθηκε στο Λονδίνο για ακόμα μια χρονιά.

The 10th annual London Greek Film Festival came to an end on Saturday evening with the ‘Odysseus Awards’ ceremony at Camden Town’s Theatro Technis, where over the course of last week dozens of films were screened, showcasing the best in modern Greek cinematography.
The competition featured feature fiction films, short films, documentaries, video art productions and experimental films, while there was also a special screenwriting competition.
The high quality of the competing films made the jury’s task a tough one, but in the end a packed theatre celebrated the winners in 29 different categories.
Participations in this progressive, alternative and independent Festival came from Greek filmmakers and producers, as well as from foreign filmmakers focusing on Greek themes.
The ‘Odysseus Awards’ ceremony was attended by many cinephiles, participants, the Ambassador of Greece in the U.K. Dimitris Karamitsos-Tziras, the Embassy’s Press Office director Alexis Georgiades and other supporters and friends of the Festival.
The founder and Artistic Director of the London Greek Film Festival Christos Prosylis thanked all the filmmakers for taking part, also the friends and supporters of the festival. He underlined the fact that the Festival, having reached its tenth consecutive year, has long been established as an international meeting point for contemporary Greek film.
Mr Prosylis stressed the importance of the extensive network of filmmakers, producers and screenwriters around the globe that has been created with the Festival as a point of reference, welcomed their positive feedback and hailed the high level of Greek film-making demonstrated in London for yet another year.
